What you see along the way
The first kilometres run right through the centre of Alphen aan den Rijn: under the bridges, past the Aarkade and the waterside terraces. Then the landscape opens up — meadows, windmills and reed banks, with the Heimanswetering as the gateway to open water.
Two hours shows you the town and the edge of the Green Heart. Four or six hours reaches the Braassemermeer, the Kaag lakes or the Nieuwkoopse Plassen — three completely different waters in a single afternoon.
