What you see along the way
The first kilometres run right through the centre of Alphen aan den Rijn: under the bridges, past the Aarkade and the waterside terraces. Then the landscape opens up — meadows, windmills and reed banks, with the Heimanswetering as the gateway to open water.
An hour and a half shows you the town and the edge of the Green Heart. Four or six hours reaches the Wijde Aa, the Braassemermeer or the Kaag lakes — completely different waters in a single day.
